The final Idol finale... for now

Hello my butterflies!

Yesterday was the final Idol finale! Wow, I can't believe American Idol is actually over! Or is it?? Only time will tell, but anyway, here are my highlights from last night's spectacle.

  • I loved the medleys. It was so cool to see so many superstars that got their start on the show back on the Idol stage.
  • Kelly Clarkson's hit medley was awesome! So many of those songs were my jam when they came out. When her 'Breakaway' album first came out, it was one of the only albums I listened to!
  • It was great to see Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban performing together. When they toured together in 2008 on the Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Carnival Ride tour, I got to see them as my 2nd concert ever at Madison Square Garden and it was one of the best concerts I've been to!
  • Speaking of Queen Underwood (I can't be the only one right?), her performance of "Something in the water" was stunning! Among so many other reasons, American Idol will always hold a special lace in my heart for giving me my biggest musical inspiration and role model.
After all was said and done, Trent Harmon came out on top over La'Porsha Renae. Personally, I liked them both a lot, so I would've been happy with whoever won. Congrats to Trent!

The last Idol premiere

Hello my butterflies!

Tonight is the last Idol Premiere. Wow. I can't believe it's actually the last season. I'm definitely excited to watch tonight and this season, but I'm not ready to say goodbye to a show I've literally watched and been inspired by since I was 5!

I remember watching every season, from Kelly Clarkson to Nick Fradiani. I remember staying up to vote by phone for my favorite contestants every year. I even used to have an American Idol folder and pencil case, which I used in elementary school! This show has given me some of my favorite artists, like Kelly Clarkson, Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry and Colton Dixon to name a few. It's also given me my biggest musical inspiration and role model, Carrie Underwood.

All that being said, this last season is going to be great! I can't wait to watch a new wave of talent and see who  gets to be the last American Idol. And who knows, maybe the show will continue somewhere else!

Billboard Women in Music

Hello my butterflies!

Yesterday, the Billboard Women in Music event aired on Lifetime. I didn't get to watch it yesterday, but I watched it today and it was great. It's so cool to see all those incredible women being honored! Here are my highlights from the show:

  • Fifth Harmony did a great job with their performance, and them singing Destiny's Child's "Independent women" was pretty awesome
  • Demi Lovato SLAYED that performance of "Stone cold"! It was strong yet vulnerable, and that voice!! Wow!
  • I loved when Kelsea Ballerini said during her acceptance speech, "I learned by watching strong, bold, empowering women, how to be one." That is exactly my sentiment and that's why broadcasts like this one are so cool!
  • I must say here that Tori Kelly is amazing! She's so talented and she makes everything seem so effortless. I could go on and on, but basically she's become one of my favorite artists and I'm definitely inspired by what she does.
  • And of course, a big congratulations to the very deserving, very inspiring Lady Gaga on being named Billboard's Woman of the Year!

Falling Skies finale!

Hello my butterflies!

Last night was the finale of Falling Skies! Those of you who have read  my blog posts about it or follow me on Twitter know that I'm just a wee bit obsessed with the show... ok maybe more than a wee bit! It's been a super crazy season and I couldn't believe that the finale had come so quickly. It really wasn't that quick, but it feels that way. I just have to say that the ending was left us on such a cliff hanger that I'm seriously doubting my ability to wait patiently until the new season! I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!! -breathes- Whew, sorry there. Told you I'm obsessed! But seriously, this season was really great and I can't wait to see season 3!

Olympics Closing Ceremony

Hello my butterflies!

Last night the Olympics came to an end with the Closing Ceremony. It was really nice, even though I was totally bummed that the Olympics were ending already.

It was great to see George Michael perform! My dad loves his music so I'm a fan but I've never seen him perform other than in music videos.

Jessie J sang "Price tag" and Taio Cruz sang "Dynamite", two of my favorite songs!

Then was the reunion of the Spice Girls! My older sister was a huge fan of theirs so I became a fan. I don't think I was quite as excited as she was, but I was definitely looking forward to seeing them together again. They were so great!

I also thought it was so cool to see the projection of Freddie Mercury! I'm a huge Queen fan! Even as a projection, he captivated the audience and got everyone to sing along. He is still truly amazing.

The Closing Ceremony was really nice. I really enjoyed watching the Olympics and hearing the athletes' stories. It was a really fun two weeks to watch and I can't wait for the next Olympics in 2014! Thank you London!

2012 Summer Olympics!

Hello my butterflies!

Yesterday started one of my favorite events... the Olympics! I'm so excited! I absolutely love the Olympics, both winter and summer. I love watching the amazing athletes represent for their countries and inspire us all. It's so cool!

The Opening Ceremony last night was really cool! I always love watching the countries come out. I think that's my favorite part of the Opening Ceremony.

Now we get to watch the events for two weeks. My favorite events are the gymnastics and swimming, but I look forward to watching as much of it as I possibly can! What are your favorite Olympic sports?

Raw's 1000th episode!

Hello my butterflies

Last night made WWE and television history. Last night was the 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw! From January 11, 1993 to July 23, 2012, they've had 1000 episodes. That's 19 years! I've been watching for 15 of those years and I can't wait to see the next 1000 episodes! It was a really good show! They also announced that from now on, Raw will be 3 hours! That's another hour of crazy story lines and great fights!

Whitney Houston's memorial service

Hello my butterflies!

Yesterday was Whitney Houston's memorial service. It was sad but beautiful. It was special to be able to watch it. I thank her family for allowing a camera to be in the church to allow all of the Whitney fans of the world to be able to witness it. My prayers are with her family and friends. RIP Whitney.
